Music’s biggest night is moving to a new home, and the countdown starts in less than two weeks. The Recording Academy will announce nominations for the 2027 Grammy Awards on Monday, November 16, and the ceremony itself will air Sunday, February 7, 2027, live from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
The bigger change is where families will watch it. The 2027 Grammys will be simulcast on ABC, Disney+ and Hulu, the first time the show has aired on ABC since 1972. The awards spent roughly five decades on CBS.
What counts this year
To be eligible, music had to be released between August 31, 2025, and August 28, 2026. That window covers a long list of high-profile releases, and the Academy’s members are now voting on which ones make the final five or eight in each category.
Labels and artists have already said which projects they submitted for the top awards. According to a running list compiled by Yahoo Entertainment, Album of the Year submissions include Olivia Rodrigo’s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, Bruno Mars’s The Romantic, Kacey Musgraves’s Middle of Nowhere, Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide and Shaboozey’s The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales, among many others. Submission does not guarantee a nomination.
Names to watch
- Record and Song of the Year: Submissions include Bruno Mars’s “I Just Might,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “the cure,” Lady Gaga and Doechii’s “RUNWAY,” Kacey Musgraves’s “Dry Spell” and Brandi Carlile’s work.
- Best New Artist: Submitted names include country singer Ella Langley, Sam Fender, The Last Dinner Party, Remi Wolf and Geese.
- Country crossover: Langley also has “Choosin’ Texas” in the Song of the Year mix, and she leads this month’s CMA Awards nominations, which Upstormed News covered in our CMA Awards preview.
Other high-profile submissions include Kehlani’s self-titled album and her single “Out the Window,” Shaboozey’s “Cowgirl,” Charli XCX’s Music, Fashion, Film and a new Rolling Stones single, “In the Stars.” The Best New Artist field is especially crowded, with submissions from Don Toliver, Sienna Spiro, Bella Kay, CMAT, Ken Carson and Rod Wave alongside Langley and Fender.
Those lists are not exhaustive, and the Academy’s voters often surprise forecasters. The official nominee list on November 16 is the one that counts.
Why the ABC move matters
For viewers, a broadcast-network-plus-streaming simulcast means more ways to watch: over the air on ABC, or on Disney+ and Hulu for households that have cut cable. Disney+ and Hulu viewers get the show live alongside the broadcast, rather than waiting for highlights the next day.
Why it matters for families
The Grammys are a live broadcast, and performances and acceptance speeches are not always family-friendly. Parents may want to watch with younger children, or preview highlights afterward. On streaming services, check parental controls on your profiles before the show. Many nominated songs also have “explicit” and “clean” versions, so look for the clean edit when you build a family playlist.
What to watch next
