Holiday Safety Check: Little Giant Ladders, Bose Batteries, Target Air Fryers Recalled

Federal regulators announced recalls of millions of Little Giant ladders, Bose S1 Pro battery packs and Gourmia air fryer ovens just as families gear up for holiday decorating and Thanksgiving cooking. Here’s how to check yours.

A metal ladder leaning against a wall

Before you pull out the ladder to hang holiday lights or fire up the countertop oven for Thanksgiving sides, it may be worth a quick check of your garage and kitchen. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a batch of recalls on Nov. 5, 2026, led by about 3.66 million Little Giant ladders, roughly 634,759 Bose speaker battery packs and about 175,951 Gourmia air fryer ovens sold at Target.

The timing matters: the holidays are when many families climb ladders, cook for crowds and bring speakers to gatherings. Here is how to tell if you own one and what to do.

Upstormed News first reported these recalls on Nov. 5 in Little Giant recalls 3.6 million ladders; Gourmia, Bose and Baby Brezza recalls too. This guide adds new coverage from Fox Business and Consumer Reports and a holiday checklist for families.

Little Giant ladders: check for an orange sticker

The largest recall covers Little Giant ladders with “Rapid Locks,” the mechanisms used to adjust a ladder’s height. According to the CPSC notice, the ladders can suddenly retract if the Rapid Locks are not fully engaged, creating a fall hazard.

The company has received 25 reports of ladders retracting, including 19 injury reports. Three involved head injuries, which the CPSC said included traumatic brain injury, skull fracture and concussion. There were also 39 reports of Rapid Locks not working properly. Fox Business reported the recall covers more than 130 models.

The recalled lines are the Adjustable Fortress 2.0, Conquest 2.0, Dark Horse 2.0, Epic, King Kombo XT, Leveler, MegaLite, MegaLite+, Multi, Quantum and Vector. They were sold at Lowe’s, Costco, Amazon and other retailers from December 2015 through October 2026 for about $100 to $1,000. Only ladders without an orange rectangular “QC” sticker on the rail above a Rapid Lock are included.

What to do: stop using the ladder and request a free repair kit with warning labels and instructions through littlegiantladders.com/pages/recalls or by calling 866-201-9069. The CPSC says owners should confirm the Rapid Locks are engaged before every use and keep them lubricated. If a lock still fails, the company will evaluate it and may offer a replacement or a refund, ranging from a depreciated value up to full price for ladders bought in the past 12 months.

Gourmia air fryer ovens sold at Target

The second recall affects Gourmia Stainless Steel Digital 9 Slice Digital Air Fryer Ovens, model GTF7530, UPC 810002862779, with date codes 3021 to 0126 on a label on the back. The CPSC said the door can close unexpectedly when bumped, burning people as they reach in for hot food.

Gourmia has received 57 reports of doors closing unexpectedly and 40 reports of burns to hands or wrists. The ovens sold for about $150 at Target stores and Target.com from October 2021 through June 2026, as FOX 29 also reported. Owners should stop using the oven and contact Gourmia at 888-834-0092 or gourmia.com for a free repair kit that adds a doorstop.

With Thanksgiving less than three weeks away, it is worth ordering the kit now.

Bose S1 Pro battery packs: do not toss them in the trash

Bose is recalling lithium-ion battery packs for its S1 Pro and S1 Pro+ portable Bluetooth speaker systems because they can overheat and ignite. The CPSC said there have been seven reports of packs melting, smoking or catching fire, including six reports of property damage, and no injuries. About 35,400 more were sold in Canada.

Affected packs have a 17-digit serial number on a label on the bottom that begins with 083723, 078352, 084105, 078591, 078592, 084106 or 086409. They were sold from December 2017 through July 2026 at Bose, Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart and other retailers. Owners should remove the pack and register at bose.com/support/s1-battery-recall for a free replacement. Consumer Reports noted the speaker can still be used plugged into wall power in the meantime.

Disposal matters here. The CPSC says not to put it in household trash, curbside recycling or store battery bins. Check with a household hazardous waste center, or ask your city or county for guidance.

This comes on the heels of other recent recalls Upstormed News has covered, including Brad’s kale chips over possible thallium contamination and a GM software recall affecting about 67,380 electric vehicles.

Why it matters for families

These are products families use more during the holidays. A few minutes checking model numbers, stickers and serial labels can prevent a fall, a burn or a fire.

  • Check your ladder for the orange “QC” sticker before climbing.
  • Look for model GTF7530 on the back of a Gourmia air fryer oven.
  • Flip over a Bose S1 Pro battery pack and compare the first six digits of the serial number.
  • You can sign up for recall alerts and search products at cpsc.gov.

Upstormed News will keep tracking new recalls as the holiday shopping season ramps up.
