Space Heaters, French Presses, Nursing Pillows: Recalls Families Should Check

Federal regulators announced recalls of Dreo space heaters, 5.9 million Bodum French presses and PILLANI nursing pillows. Here is how to tell if yours is affected and what to do.

A cozy room corner with a heater

As families turn up the heat, brew more morning coffee and settle in for the colder months, federal safety regulators are asking households to check three common products. In announcements dated October 29, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) listed recalls of a popular space heater, millions of glass French press coffee makers and a nursing pillow sold online for babies.

None of the three recalls requires a trip back to the store. Each company has set up a way for owners to get a free fix, a replacement or a refund. Here is what to look for, and what to do if one of these items is in your home.

Dreo space heaters: stop using them now

DREO is recalling about 338,800 of its model DR-HSH015 space heaters in the United States, plus about 36,300 sold in Canada, according to the CPSC. The agency says the heaters can overheat and ignite, creating fire and burn hazards.

DREO has received 17 reports of the heaters igniting. Three of those caused property damage, and one caused a burn injury to a person’s hand, the CPSC said. Gray News, which reported the recall the day it was announced, noted that the heaters were sold through DREO and major retailers from September 2025 to October 2026.

The recalled heater is a black ceramic electric model, about 11.5 inches wide and 13 inches tall, with “DREO” printed on the front and a remote control. Only units made from April 2025 through January 2026 are included. The model number and manufacture date (shown as year and month) are printed on a label on the bottom of the heater. The heaters sold for about $70 to $110 at Costco stores and online at sites including Dreo.com, BestBuy.com, Kohls.com, Lowes.com, QVC.com, HomeDepot.com and Costco.com.

Owners should stop using the heater immediately and contact DREO for a free replacement. The company will ask owners to unplug the heater, cut the electrical cord so it cannot be used again, and send a photo of the destroyed unit. DREO can be reached toll-free at 833-820-0887 on weekdays, or through the “Product Recalls” link at dreo.com.

Bodum French presses: a free plastic spoon and a warning label

The largest recall by far involves Bodum French press coffee makers. Bodum USA is recalling about 5.9 million French presses with replaceable glass carafes in 8-cup and 12-cup sizes, the CPSC said. The agency warns that a carafe can break unexpectedly during use if it is damaged or cracked, including when coffee is stirred with a metal spoon, which can lead to serious burns from hot liquid.

Bodum has identified 70 reports of carafes breaking during use, including 48 reports of burns, according to the CPSC and Scripps News. The recall covers presses sold from 1974 through October 2026 for about $15 to $65. Cox Media Group’s national desk reported that the affected models include the Bistro, Brazil, Caffettiera, Chambord, Crema, Java, Jesper and Kenya, sold at Target, Walmart, Amazon, home goods stores and coffee shops.

Unlike the heater recall, owners do not have to give up their coffee maker. The remedy is to stop stirring with metal spoons or utensils, stop using any carafe that is cracked or damaged, and request a free plastic stirring spoon and warning label from Bodum. The company can be reached at 888-879-8213. In a statement reported by Boston 25 News, Bodum described breakage during use as extremely rare given the millions of units sold, and said the recall is meant to encourage safe use.

PILLANI nursing pillows: babies’ breathing at risk

Parents of infants should check for a U-shaped nursing pillow sold under the PILLANI brand. The CPSC says about 25,762 of the pillows, model NP4351, violate the mandatory federal safety standard for nursing pillows and can obstruct an infant’s breathing, posing a suffocation risk. No incidents have been reported.

The pillows have a smaller pillow attached on top and an adjustable waist strap. They came in many prints and colors, including stars, wild animal, pink with leaf and light green, and were sold only on Amazon.com from April through September 2026 for $30 to $40. The batch number on the label will read 202604, 202605 or 202606.

Families should stop using the pillow right away and contact PILLANI for a full refund. The company asks owners to send a photo of the product and will then provide disposal instructions. Contact details are posted at pill-ani.com/pages/recall.

Why it matters for families

These are everyday items that often sit in the busiest rooms of a home: a heater in a child’s bedroom or living room, a coffee press on the kitchen counter, a nursing pillow next to a new parent. A few minutes spent checking labels can prevent a fire, a burn or a dangerous situation for a baby.

  • Check labels: Look on the bottom of space heaters and on the tags of baby products for the model and batch numbers listed above.
  • Do not resell or donate recalled items. Follow each company’s instructions so the product is taken out of use.
  • Look beyond your own home: Grandparents, babysitters and friends who received baby gear or small appliances as gifts may not hear about recalls.
  • Sign up for alerts: The CPSC posts recalls on its website, and checking it is a simple habit during the holiday gift season.

A November 2 roundup by 41NBC also flagged an FDA recall of 365 Whole Foods Market ashwagandha capsules over possible salmonella, with no illnesses reported. Anyone who has bought supplements recently can check that notice, and should talk with a doctor about any health concerns.
